Remuneration: you excel, we reward

BNP Paribas aims to be competitive and to share the fruits of the Group’s performance with its employees.

BNP Paribas has begun a progressive revision of its basic salary rates, taking into account the skills acquired and the job market.

Variable remuneration rewards individual and collective performance with respect to annual objectives. Different forms of variable remuneration may be applied according to the country, business line or subsidiary.

Mobility: endless opportunities, new horizons

With more than 300 different positions and a presence in over 80 countries, BNP Paribas offers a multitude of opportunities for career progression.

Mobility can be “functional” and involve a change of job that allows the employee to acquire new skills.

There are also numerous opportunities for geographic mobility (national and international) reflecting the Group’s extensive presence all over the world, and in its domestic markets in particular: Belgium, France, Italy and Luxembourg.

BNP Paribas has chosen to adopt a dynamic management approach to mobility, which operates on the assumption of frequent changes and developments in its employees’ career paths within the Group. This mobility is defined by the employee in consultation with his or her line manager and career manager, in accordance with the wishes of the employee and the opportunities that are available at that time.

Work-life balance: Get a Job, Get a Life

A good work-life balance is essential for employees, and as a consequence is beneficial for the Group.  BNP Paribas has implemented several measures to improve well-being at work, especially those that take family commitments into account.

The BNP Paribas Mix City association in France, like other women’s networks in 6 other countries, acts as a forum to promote women’s access to management roles in the Group and to improve their work/life balance (e.g. organising concierge services etc.).

Several of the Group’s entities organise “Family Days”. The aim of these days is twofold: to provide the children of employees with the opportunity to learn about the working environment of one of their parents, and to contribute to developing discussions regarding parenthood within the company.

BNP Paribas also takes family commitments into account with regard to:

  • geographic mobility
  • training (scheduling, childcare costs, etc.)
  • meetings and business travel

Are lateral moves across business lines possible?

Yes, they are possible. Human Resources teams within the core businesses and functions work together to achieve an optimum match between resources and needs. More generally, Human Resources structures the internal job market locally, to find the best match between requests for mobility from personnel and the needs of the company.

Are there opportunities to work abroad?

Yes, we’re looking for internationally minded people. BNP Paribas is a global Group, which implies that employees should have the capacity to handle international matters from time to time or an a daily basis. Some employees will have the opportunity to either work abroad from the start or at a later stage of their careers within the Group

International mobility within BNP Paribas Group aims to:

•  reinforce the international and transversal nature of the Group's business;

•  develop the international and multicultural skills of its employees and thereby promote their career development.

An employee who has the competencies to handle multicultural settings, share best practices or develop new ones can be offered an opportunity abroad, no matter his / her origin.

Certain activities like Corporate Investment Banking propose international opportunities more frequently because the activity itself is based on international markets and clients.

Our general framework of expatriation conditions define a global, transparent and well-adapted compensation and support policy for international mobility, suited both to market needs and to those of the local environment while allowing costs and risks to be controlled.
