As the first global partner of the sport, BNP Paribas supports tennis in all its forms.
Just as we place people at the heart of everything we do, in the tennis world it is the players who exemplify the positive values of the sport, whatever their age or level of expertise. We support players amateur and professional, at the local, national and international level, as well as junior and university competitions, so as to encourage the transmission of knowledge between generations.
In keeping with our policy of active partnership, we facilitate access to tennis for all by partnering with clubs, leagues and national federations. Finally, our commitment is also reflected in a wide range of social activities in which we are engaged across the world.
Professional Tennis
Ever since we began sponsoring the sport, many charismatic athletes have provided us with extraordinary moments of excitement and emotion. A model of fair play and elegance, these great champions are the ambassadors of one of the world’s most popular sports, one that continues to grow internationally.
Thus, 120 countries now participate in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas, and 75 nations in the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas. And, more than 2 billion viewers follow Roland Garros each year.
The support that the Group brings to these prestigious competitions, and to many others like them, provides global resonance to the brand, and encourages moments of friendly exchange with our customers in an informal setting.
Amateur Tennis
The status of main sponsor also confers on BNP Paribas a number of responsibilities, including that of encouraging access to the sport for all. This explains our commitment to more than 20 international federations, 2,000 clubs and 550 amateur tournaments. We sponsor, among others, the Family Trophy in France (a family tournament between members of the same family), as well as the Master U’ BNP Paribas, an event that brings together the global elite of college players.
Our involvement with tennis is not confined to individual players. More than anything, we want to help the fans to experience live events, inviting 40,000 customers each year to attend various tournaments. For over 10 years, we have co-organised the process of selecting ball boys and girls at Roland Garros. Each year, 250 girls and boys have the privilege of treading the courts of the Porte d'Auteuil.
Goodwill Tennis
Tennis also offers BNP Paribas a platform for various local initiatives.
Around the world, we’re involved in a range of educational and social programs, including:
-
In the Tennis for All programme in Sofia, Bulgaria, disabled children receive regular tennis lessons;
-
During the Téléthon, BNP Paribas provides logistical support to French tennis clubs in helping to raise funds for research into genetic diseases;
-
Since 2001, BNP Paribas has been a partner of Fête le Mur. Created by Yannick Noah, this French association aims to educate children through tennis, to encourage diversity on playing fields at an early age, and to allow children to flourish and live together in a spirit of solidarity and citizenship.
-
In the US, BNP Paribas Taste of Tennis is a prestigious culinary event that brings together chefs and tennis champions for the benefit of the New York City Food Bank.
By sponsoring such projects, BNP Paribas reinforces its social commitments.
