BNP Paribas Bulgaria joins Bulgarian Charity Aid Foundation (BCAF) for a third consecutive year in the initiative “Get ready to succeed”. In the frame of the project 117 orphaned young people (76 university students and 41 high school pupils) receive annual scholarships during academic year 2009/2010 for excellent academic results.
The program is running nationwide and has extremely beneficial effect on young people – not just in financial sense but also as a motivation and self-confidence. Children without parents need support in school age in order to get better prospects for employment and dignified life and to get an access to further education.
This initiative adds to the numerous social projects of BNP Paribas Bulgaria which encourage the integration of the underprivileged among which "One day out of the orphanage", "Tennis for everybody" and "Soup Kitchen".
The project "One day out from the orphanage" aims to support children, deprived from parental cares in social homes. This initiative allows children living in orphanages to enjoy a monthly recreational or cultural outing, such as visit to a museum, a circus, children's theatre productions, sports activities, etc.
The program "Tennis for everybody" is a joint initiative of BNP Paribas and the Bulgarian Tennis Federation and consists of educational and social tennis programs implementing regular tennis lessons for orphans and handicapped children. With this initiative BNP Paribas and the Bulgarian Tennis Federation strengthen their activities in helping disadvantaged children to enjoy the pleasure and benefits of this healthy and motivating sport.
Since 2002, BNP Paribas Bulgaria and the Municipality of Sofia organize the "Soup Kitchen" project. This humanitarian initiative provides over 1,700 hot meals a day to the underprivileged. Financed through donations made by staff, clients and partners of BNP Paribas Bulgaria, the meals are distributed in 13 centres in Sofia and in Varna. In 2006, the project received the "Investor in Community" award from the Bulgarian Business Leaders Forum and in 2009 the BNP Paribas Innov@ction Award.
